Dr. Rosalyn | And Just Like That..
Another semester has come to an end. Grades have been finalized and submitted so I won't be on the naughty list tomorrow. I will be busy tomorrow afternoon/evening because I will attend the hooding of graduate students and present the first ever award for our graduate program and then head over to the honor's night ceremony to give an award to one of our undergraduate students. This is actually one of my favorite things to do mostly because we surprise students when we can and because we normally have selected a student who doesn't see themselves the way we do. It's also the last hurrah before graduation which is more rushed and less time to actually chat with the students in a low key setting. Graduation is Tuesday and should be quick after we all get seated. That largely depends on the speeches but we've been done in like two hours the last few years. We then come back to campus for photos and snacks and then I tend to turn into a pumpkin cause I've used up all my people energy.
This weekend however I focused on a lot of self-care. I didn't stay at events longer than I needed to do so and had a good night out with friends. It was a good culmination for the week of grading and concerts and asking where assignments were. Six years of the same dance but I'm in a different place about all of it. These conferences and random opportunities keep letting me see things a little differently and how to mix things up. I'm looking forward to testing out Jamovi and considering doing a more visual representation of statistics to help students process significance better. I'm waiting on a MOU to come back so we can start a new internship site for our students. And just realized I have to call one back because they did not return my call. I'm also eagerly awaiting delivery of Chromebooks for my fellow graduate instructors and our entire graduate cohort. Everyone will get shiny new but most importantly the same computers to use for the upcoming year. We should be able to provide better instruction when we all can see the same set up each time.
I still have to manage some self care better and get more sleep but those are under way. Back to the gym regularly the last few weeks and working on cleaner eating.
Oh before I forget. I did update the travel page with the presentations the students gave. It was a nice set of presentations and the students were really excited to speak to what they learned. I got to meet some of the donors who contribute to student travel and it was a pleasure to hear how they processed the students' experience as well. Our students are great ambassadors and they rocked it.
